Key to my work is the exploration of layers and traces of seeing, remembering and imagining; allowing visual ‘conversations’ to emerge through mixed media, collage and found materials.
Translating forms from nature and the observed world, and relating these with abstract spaces, allows for new juxtapositions and vocabularies to emerge.
My approach is often process based, inspired by the ephemeral or overlooked and the interplay of fragments. Drawing is also both a point of departure and an anchor within my practice.
Kate Mayer
Kate Mayer is a local artist who has made east London her home for 20 years, though she grew up in the far north of England. She is interested in concepts of a shared consciousness, energetic vibrations and the potential for manifesting better situations through our thoughts and intentions. She creates art to inspire and uplift the viewer, and bring positive energy into your home or workplace. She uses positive affirmations and intentions in her work, which she seals in wax as a way of symbolising their importance.
Kate believes that what we surround ourselves with has a direct impact on our subconscious thoughts. And so by choosing what’s in our environment with intention, we can change our perceptions, and ultimately live a better life.
She was recently selected as one of the 10 must see artists at The New Artist Fair, and her work has been bought by buyers and collectors in the USA, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong as well as the UK.
