PRIDE 23
Who Are We?
Dark Yellow Dot, is an artist-run platform for sharing, connecting, learning and growing as an artist. By curating and organising exhibitions, workshops and other events, we’re supporting and making space for new artists and creative beginners. We’re proud to have featured many artists in their first ever exhibitions and online publications. Read more about us here.
We currently manage two public-facing gallery spaces in East London which allow artists to share their work with a wide audience. The Genesis Cinema Gallery in Mile End and the 1B Window Gallery in Walthamstow. Read more about them here.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for artists of the LGBTQ+ community to take part in an upcoming exhibition as part of Pride Month 2023. We are looking for dynamic artists that will explore themes of ‘queerness’ and what that means to them.
Queer art forms have very often been represented through the ideas of sexuality and gender, however with this exhibition we are hoping to explore other, maybe less represented areas of queerness (Queer spaces, queer language, queer expression, queer fashion, etc.)
We are very aware of the importance of being able to openly explore sexuality and gender through art forms and by no means intend on invalidating said forms of work.
However, for the theme of this particular exhibition at Genesis Cinema and 1B Window Gallery, we challenge artists to interpret queerness beyond the confines of gender/sexuality and explore further into how queerness affects space, language, fashion, expression and identity. Due to the nature of our gallery spaces operating within a public facing schema, we unfortunately cannot include artworks of explicit content.

Testimonials
“Exhibiting with Dark Yellow Dot as an emerging artist was brilliant. They took the time to get to understand the artists in the Women’s Month Exhibition and showed so much faith in my work it was truly encouraging. The team were a dream, super supportive, responsive, and professional. How they are creating the landscape for emerging artists to blossom is truly fantastic.” – Natalie Thrasivoulou
