Flags Of Our High Street Treasures
Alisa Ruzavina & Artillery
A community project that celebrates the diverse people, stories, and heritage of Walthamstow’s famous street. Based on the interviews with the traders &co-designed together with WF College, WF Twinning Association, The Gleaners, The ELMS &The Mill, these joyous flags share folkloric narratives of hyperlocal relations filled with care and vibrancy.
Alisa Ruzavina is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and facilitator. Her curiosity lies in creating conversations that open possibilities for place-based, intercultural and sustaining ways of relating, making and being that cultivate a sense of wonder and nurture the feeling of ecological and civic belonging within diverse communities. Her socially engaged practice spans across textiles, costume, sculpture, installation, creative education, public & community art.

The project is created as part of The Walthamstow Griffin project funded by Untold Stories, part of the Mayor of London’s Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm.
