Ella Jackson
Ella Jackson grew up in Dorset, later attending Kingston Foundation Art in 2019 and graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2023 studying BA Fine Art. Whilst painting consumes most of her free time away from her part-time job, she also enjoys hiking, currently practicing for her solo hike along the West Highland Way in September. Much of her inspiration is taken from friends and familial relationships closest to her, with a particular focus on her female relationships and the experiences they have had together.
“I intend to make work that has an emotional impact on my audience. I want them to feel feelings associated with love, such as joy and warmth and perhaps within a new body of work I am starting, serenity. Colour has been fundamental for achieving this. I am interested in the manipulation of colours when you place one layer paint on another colour. Identifying which colours to use, depends on the type of relationship I am wanting to portray. Each piece is a gradual build-up of intimately applied brush strokes. They show the labour of the artists’ hand and imitate the gradual process of building a relationship. This intimate process between the artist and the painting seems important for my audience to visualise, so that they may connect their emotional responses to their own relationships.”
