Melania Toma

Melania Toma is an Italian multi-disciplinary artist living and working in London. At the centre of her practice lies the exploration of the narratives of subjectivity/intersubjectivity. Historically, we intersect webs of gender, power hierarchies and ecological degradation. Her observations often focus on less visible notions of the feminine, domestic structures and the transformative power of the self. Toma describes how we create and experience different interconnected worlds—past, present and future —human and non-human and material and spiritual. Through this, she initiates a journey through her practise to explore the boundaries between the rationality of our world and the psychic self.
