ABOUT US_

We’re all about supporting and making space for new artists and creative beginners. Dark Yellow Dot is an award winning Community Interest Company (CIC) committed to supporting a talented community of artists. As a not-for-profit, any revenue we generate is reinvested into our mission—helping emerging artists grow, develop their practice, and gain visibility. Our focus is on creating opportunities and resources that directly benefit the artist community, ensuring art is accessible and supported at every level.

Dark Yellow Dot is more than an artist-run platform for sharing art. We team up with venues that get how important it is to bring art into everyday spaces, not just traditional galleries. We’re all about making art accessible and giving up-and-coming artists visibility and a chance to gain experience. We’re proud to have given many artists a chance at their first ever exhibitions or online publications.

Most recently we’ve been awarded a Black Business Residency at Somerset House, was awarded the Greater London Enterprise Awards 2023 and Best Emerging Artist Support Organisation 2022 by SME News. We’ve also been recognised as one of Vuelio’s Top 10 UK Art Blogs of 2022, and received The Webby Awards Honoree Award in 2022,

To show some love, anyone can donate to support this mission. If you’re a creative space or organisation in London interested in collaborating, drop us a line.

A word from

I’d hoped an arts education would’ve helped integrate me into a career as an artist. I found that art school often doesn’t prepare us for building a sustainable living from art. Art school does however, provide a sense of community and access to resources that is incredibly useful. The problem though, is after graduation, finding that community or those resources is unbelievably challenging. Especially upon moving to a new city, your essentially starting from scratch. That was my case.

When I moved back to London after living in Canada for many years I was unsure of how to ‘join’ the arts community if not through work or school. I’d suddenly lost all access to affordable resources and facilities. And with little ‘professional’ experience at the time, I was overlooked when applying for opportunities. I saw other artists ‘waving’ their art around on social media trying to be seen and acknowledged too. This is when, and why I started Dark Yellow Dot.

Through DYD, I work with creative organisations and establishments who recognise the importance of making art accessible to the public and beneficial to the artist beyond the confinements of a traditional white wall gallery. I’m dedicated to the artists that are making great work (or want to) but just don’t know where to start beyond sharing on social media. DYD is a way to begin building your portfolios and adding to your cv with meaningful experiences and opportunities that contribute to your success as an artist.

I really loved having my work exhibited with Dark Yellow Dot. They were really friendly and supportive and gave us lots of opportunities to promote the work with written interviews and Instagram posts. Thank you Dark Yellow Dot!

“This was such an insightful and fruitful and encouraging experience. The feedback from the local community was just so uplifting and positive and it was the first real opportunity I've had to sell my prints (especially connecting directly with customers). So thank you so much for this. I've got new wind under my wings and am already working on finally creating an online shop and looking for other markets / fairs I may be able to participate in”

Lauren and the Dark Yellow Dot team were absolutely key to the show’s success. They helped with spreading the word and creating engaging content. Lauren was very open to my initial suggestions for the show, and had some great ideas about how to develop them. I look forward to working with Dark Yellow dot in the future!

Through talking and meeting new people on the first day of the exhibition, I could hear other artists' experiences, tips for working as an artist and so on. It was fresh for someone like me, studying and working in the environment around campus. I am encouraged to work in the real art market. Anyway, I personally think this exhibition was well organised by kind curators, it was good for artists.
