CALLING ARTISTS: We’re looking for young artists, aged 18 to 25, to be in with the chance to exhibit in our upcoming exhibition COMING OF AGE.

‘COMING OF AGE’ is a youth art competition, to allow young artists to experience their artwork in a real space for the very first time.

Dark Yellow Dot aims to highlight cultural diversity through young emerging artists with a strong personal vision and innovative approach to art making. We want to explore themes of ‘Identity’ and what identity means to youth culture, however this theme is a chance to explore your own creativity and imagination as to how you, the artist, view such concepts through a range of art mediums.

We’re looking for London-based artists working in 2-D Fine Art mediums 2-D and Fine Art works (Paintings, Illustration, Digital, Collage Photography, Print, Textiles, etc.)

Winners will receive a month long exhibition at the Genesis Cinema Gallery in April, an online publication, and a generous gift certificate for art supplies!

Both the artist and the artwork must be in London to be considered, as both Dark Yellow Dot and Genesis prides itself on promoting local arts and culture. We’ll be making our selections from the artworks submitted so make sure you put your best work forward and submit pieces related to the theme of the exhibit. Alongside the exhibition, the winners will also receive an online interview about them and their practice featured on the Dark Yellow Dot website and a gift certificate to Cass Art.

If this will be your first exhibition, or you’ve never entered or won an art competition before, we strongly encourage you to apply!

About your artwork:

– artworks must be original, created by the artist

– any fine art medium (except Sculpture, Film/Video and Performance)

– Clearly represents themes of identity, being young/youthful and ‘coming of age’

– maximum size of artwork: 5ft x 5ft in total

– can be easily mounted on a wall and doesn’t protrude more than 6 inches in depth.

– completed in the last 4 years

– prepared for hanging by April 1st, 2022.

Successful Applicants:
– will be aged 18-25
– emerging, Early career or hobby artist
– studying or practicing as an artist
– currently living in London

Exhibition Dates: April 1^st – May 2^nd, 2022 (subject to change)
